Program Goals:

  • Aid incoming First-year students with their transition to campus life including academic and socially
  • Assist with the transition and retention of underrepresented first-year students
  • Offers opportunities to build personal connections with peer-to-peer relationships
  • Provide personal, professional, and leadership development of students

Program Structure:

  • Time Frame- One Academic Calendar Year
  • Open to underrepresented first-year students
  • Mentors must attend the Mentor Leadership/Training Course (A 1 hour course) either before becoming a mentor or the first semester after becoming a mentor
  • Mentees must enroll in the First Year Experience Seminar
