UMOJA

UMOJA in Swahili means unity and is an opportunity to showcase unity via talents and skills of students and student organizations. This program an opportune time for students to find out more information about student organizations that exist on campus.


Salsa in the Streets

Salsa in the Streets is a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month through various forms of salsa dancing and food. There will be a dance lesson and, after the lesson, you can enjoy dancing along with various songs.


Unity Month

Unity Month (April) is an opportunity to share differing views, perspectives and cultures. This also serves as a time to engage students, faculty, and staff about the value and vitality represented at the University and globally. This week will consist of entertainment, speakers, and dialogues that will foster an atmosphere of learning about the contributions of others and celebrate the dynamics of diversity and inclusion.

International Fiesta

The annual International Fiesta is a day of cultural exchange and entertainment. University Organizations, clubs, departments, and other communities will have displays and food booths indicative of their countries. Various groups will provide entertainment in the form of dancing, musical instruments, singing, as well as a fashion show. In addition to inflatables, unique cultural games and activities will be available for children.

International Student Insight Day

The International Student Insight Day consists of various orientation programs designed to help new international students (including freshmen, transfer students, and graduate students) have a smooth transition from their countries or previous locations to student life at Mississippi State University. Students will learn about services of various departments and the policy and procedures of Mississippi State University.  In addition, students will be able to build friendships through various interactive activities throughout the day. International Student Liaison (ISL) Program

ISL Program is an initiative in which current international and U.S. students support new international students before their arrival and during the orientation, International Student Insight Day (ISID). The goal is to help new international students have a smooth transition from their countries and adjust to campus life as well as to make the orientation more interactive and build connections between new and current students. BBQueer

Organized by HCDC, LGBTQ+ Union, and Safe Zone Advisory Board, BBQueer is a social for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, community members, and their allies.
